HMNS BTS – Through Time: The Triassic & Jurassic
June 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

IN PERSON – The popular paleo series returns, with a twist. Join professional Paleontologist and Science Educator, James E. Washington III on a journey through time in the Morian Hall of Paleontology and featured halls of the Museum. The Triassic Period is bookended by two major extinction events in Earth’s history. Although the first dinosaurs appeared in the Triassic Period, they were by no means a dominant part of the ecology until the very end. Yet the Jurassic Period ushered in the “Golden Age of Giants,” when 100-foot-long Diplodocus migrated across the North American plains and giant marine reptiles swam in the seas. Predatory dinosaurs such as Allosaurus, the lion of the Jurassic, fought Stegosaurus who were skilled swordsmen with their spiked tails. We will then journey through the Wiess Energy Hall to see the conditions in Earth’s history that encourages this evolutionary development as well as the hydrocarbons we use today.
